One of the reasons we placed Hard Spun as our number 1 choice to win the 2007 Kentucky Derby was the opinion of Chuck Zacney, the managing partner of a horse you might have heard of named Afleet Alex.
"I got your Super Horse - I raced against him," Chuck Zacney, managing partner of the group that owned Afleet Alex, said this week, talking about a 2-year-old named Hard Spun who debuted at Delaware Park on Oct. 22, winning by 8 1/2 lengths. "I saw him in the paddock. He looked like a 3-year-old or a 4-year-old, not a 2-year-old. He was intimidating, and he showed it on the track."
We will have to see if he is a superhorse, but we like 2yr olds that are already intimidating and his performances so far have made us a believer.
